“You going to come in to the office any time soon?” asked Richard, his face framed by a tiny Skype window on Quinn’s laptop screen.

“Maybe. Is the omega facility ready for the final inspection?”

“Next week. We already have hundreds of applications for the first stage of finished apartments. You’re really doing something amazing here, you know that, Quinn? Quinn shrugged. “Theo’s idea. He’s going to pick the first recipients, actually. Get your PA to send the files through to him.”

“There’s a lot of bitching from betas working on the interior design who wonder why the omegas get such luxury. It would be a lot more popular of an idea if you made it a little more . . . basic.”

The door opened, and Theo padded into Quinn’s office, smelling fresh from a shower, wrapped in a silk robe. He kissed Quinn on the cheek. “Can you come to bed now?”

“Soon, baby. I just have to finish up with Richard.”

Quinn watched Theo walk away toward their master suite.

On screen, Richard rolled his eyes. “Oh my God, you two. It’s been a year. The honeymoon stage should be over by now. Go on. Get to bed.”

“You know, I think I will. I’ll get a chopper into the city next week and we can all go look at the omega apartments together. And fire the interior designers. Find another firm, one who understands what we’re trying to create here.”

“You got it.”

Quinn snapped his laptop closed and pushed the button on the intercom on top of his desk.

“Yes, Mr. Peters?”

“We’re going to bed now, Clayton. Lock everything down.” As he and his omega rested, armed guards would patrol Quinn’s house. Nothing would ever hurt Theo again. No matter what happened to Quinn, he’d keep his omega safe.

In the master bedroom, Theo lay on the California King bed, his naked skin glistening. Quinn raised his head. The scent of omega need filled the room and Quinn felt his nostrils flare. “Are you going into heat, baby?”

“I wasn’t sure.”
